Pretty much all of those characters died out - they were just part of advertising and their advertising campaign changes over time.
It is more popular to co-brand happy meal toys with TV and movie characters than to create their own characters...so that is why you don't see them anymore.What happened to Grimace, Birdy and those weird hair monsters from McDonalds?
